God is releasing a grace over His people to enter into a period of supernatural rest. 

This isn’t a slothful rest. This isn’t a rest where nothing happens in your world. 

This is a rest that will restore, revive and rebuild. 

The Jewish year 5787 starts on Shabbat and ends on Shabbat. It is also the longest year possible in the Jewish calendar, containing 385 days.

The number 7 represents completion. It is also the day God rested after everything was created. There are two 7s in this year, representing that the season you have been in is coming to completion and God is bringing you into a season of rest. A year of rest.

The thought of rest for the human race is becoming nearly extinct. God taught Israel how to rest in the Old Testament. Days of rest for themselves and years of rest for the land. God’s design was for rest to be built into the rhythms of their lives for specific and spiritual reasons.

Even though Jesus Christ has entered the scene as our Savior and King, God our Father still has strategic and important periods of time that He wants humanity to operate within. Rest is still one of them. This is no longer simply a day of rest or a year of rest. It’s now a place of rest.

The door to this place of rest is opening up this year for those who are willing to hear the word of the Lord, open up your hearts and enter in.

Hebrews 4:1-11 (NLT)

God’s promise of entering His rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it.

For this good news – that God has prepared this rest – has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God. 

For only we who believe can enter His rest. As for the others, God said, “In my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest,’” even though this rest has been ready since He made the world.

We know it is ready because of the place in the Scriptures where it mentions the seventh day: “On the seventh day God rested from all His work.”  But in the other passage God said, “They will never enter my place of rest.” So God’s rest is there for people to enter, but those who first heard this good news failed to enter because they disobeyed God.

So God set another time for entering His rest, and that time is today.

God announced this through David much later in the words already quoted: “Today when you hear His voice, don’t harden your hearts.”

Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would not have spoken about another day of rest still to come. So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.

The number 7 is represented by the Hebrew letter Zayin, which pictographically resembles a weapon or sword.

Many people believe that means this is the year of the Lord’s sword.

The next verse in Hebrews, where we left off, is verse 12.

Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. 

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before His eyes, and He is the one to whom we are accountable.

This is the year that God is about to release His words over the earth, and it will begin to cut through soul and spirit. It is a season of separation. Severing. There are voices rising up in the earth that carry the true word of the Lord, and the result of that word spoken will be surgery on the soul of His people. These voices are accountable to God and God alone.

The words that are about to be released over the nations will cause hidden things to be revealed. There are things that are hidden in deep darkness that will begin to come to light. This is the year of the sword of the Lord. His word will go forth in the earth, and things will begin to be laid naked and exposed.

The Jewish year 5787 is for those who carry the sword of the Lord. His word. In this season, you will do more from rest than you could have ever achieved from your hard work. You are about to find rest for your souls. Rest from all your labor. When the sword of the Lord is at work, it is the Lord Himself rising up to fight the battles that no man ever could.
