Wait For The Lords Direction
Finally, the Lord said to Samuel, “You have mourned long enough for Saul. I have rejected him as king of Israel. Now fill your horn with olive oil and go to Bethlehem. Find a man named Jesse who lives there, for I have selected one of his sons to be my new king.” – 1 Samuel 16:1
The Bible says, “Finally, the Lord said…”
I want to tell you that you have mourned long enough in your waiting!
When you are living a life of faith—a life fully surrendered to God, a life that says, “Not my way, but Yours be done, Lord”—that life must wait on the Lord to speak. You are not able to do anything without the voice of God guiding you and leading you.
The waiting is crushing at times. The waiting is confusing. The waiting can also cause disappointment and fear to rise. The Bible says those who wait are supposed to have renewed strength. The renewed strength comes by way of trusting in God. Trusting that God’s silence is not a sign of forgetfulness; it’s just a sign of supernatural timing.
Timing is everything in the Kingdom.
Everything takes time in the natural. Everything also takes time in the supernatural. The difference is we know and understand the timing in the natural.
Four years and I graduate high school. Four more years and I can graduate college. Bake this dish at 450 degrees for 25 minutes and I can eat. Put this address in the map and it says I will arrive in 15 minutes.
Natural timing doesn’t cause disappointment and fear to rise, so why does it in the supernatural? Well, when it comes to God’s timing, no man knows the time.
Natural waiting usually comes with an expected ending. Supernatural waiting doesn’t.
How long before I’m delivered? How long before breakthrough? How long before I’m promoted? How long before I’m pregnant? How long, Lord?
Have you found yourself asking God, “How long?”
Let me remind you again: those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength!
Finally! The Lord spoke to Samuel! Let’s see what happens after that!
When God spoke, He told Samuel exactly what to do! Fill your horn with oil. Go to Bethlehem, find the house of Jesse, and anoint one of his sons!
When you position your life to be led by God and possess the courage to wait on the Lord, when He speaks, He will tell you exactly what to do. There will be no guessing. You will have full clarity on your next steps.
If your next step is moving out of your current house, God will tell you the exact state, city, county—down to the very house you are supposed to buy or rent. You will have that much clarity. There will be no guessing.
God will show you not only the career field you are supposed to be in, but He will tell you the exact company you are supposed to work for. If you’re headed off to college, God will tell you what school to go to and what you are supposed to study.
This type of direction wasn’t reserved for only Samuel. This same God wants to guide your life.
I want to tell you that you have mourned long enough in your waiting!
