We thought we were called to lead. We were wrong.
What does it actually look like to live by faith?
Not from a stage. But in everyday life.
In a marriage, around a dinner table, raising children and following God when you have absolutely no idea where He’s taking you.
Ten years ago, that became our story.
We were high-school sweethearts who had built a life that, from the outside, looked pretty secure.
We’d been married for 11 years and had two little children.
Darin was helping pastor at a multisite church, I was a labor and delivery nurse doing work I loved.
We had community, careers and opportunity and then Jesus asked us to leave it all.
Shortly after that came a real estate opportunity that would have made us millionaires.
Instead, we chose the road less traveled. We sold everything and chose to follow the still small voice.
We left the paychecks. The security and eventually, the place we called home.
We burned the plows because we thought God was calling us to go build a ministry.
Then He whispered something that changed everything: “Before you lead, you must learn how to follow.”
Suddenly, the destination wasn’t the point anymore. Following Him was.
So that’s what we did.
We learned to hear God’s voice for ourselves. We feasted on the word of God. We allowed ourselves to be rewired. We learned a new way of life, the way of the Kingdom of God. We followed Jesus and his voice radically, no matter what it cost us.
We were crushed, ways of life were uprooted, mindsets destroyed, but then we were built.
Death of the old only meant birth of the new.
Along the way, six babies joined our family. And now our ninth is on the way.
God radically changed how we did life now.
We cook at home.
We work from home.
We worship at home.
We birth babies at home.
We homeschool.
Home became more than just the place we returned to at the end of the day.
Home became our headquarters.
That’s why we’re opening our doors.
Spiritual leadership shouldn’t require you to wonder who someone really is behind the stage.
We don’t want to only tell you what we believe.
We want you to see how we live it.
The beautiful parts. The hard parts. The ordinary parts.
The decisions we get right – and the ones we don’t.
We want to show you how faith guides our marriage, parenting, work and life.
Maybe you already know Jesus.
Maybe you’ve known Him your entire life but somewhere along the way, faith became something you believed more than something you lived.
Maybe you don’t know what you believe. That’s okay.
We welcome you to come into our home.
Ten years ago, we stepped away from the platform, left everything and followed Jesus.
Now, after ten years of following…
He’s calling us to lead again.
Not away from our home.
From our Home.
Discipleship to us means opening our home, our marriage, family and our daily rhythms in order that others might see how faith shapes our every single day. Yet how these difficult decisions and uncomfortable choices have produced an abundant life.
We want to give you the same invitation – come follow us – let us inspire you to take the road less traveled in your own life.
