Character vs. Charisma

Your character will open doors that your charisma never could.

We have a generation of spiritual leaders with incredible charisma but very little character. They have built massive platforms on one foundation: charisma.

We are now beginning to see the ramifications of those leaders whose character could not handle the weight of the platform.

My God, help us. We don’t need more charismatic leaders. We need leaders of character.Lord, raise up leaders who can shift a generation from being impressed by charisma to valuing character.

Raise up men and women whose private lives can carry the weight of what You entrust to them publicly.

This story also shows us that character has influence long before we realize it. 

Elisha, a servant of God, wanted nothing to do with Joram. He only agreed to seek the Lord on their behalf because of King Jehoshaphat.

Think about that.

One man’s character saved three nations. Let that sink in.

Jehoshaphat’s integrity had built something that mattered when the moment came. His character gave him influence in a room where charisma could not have opened the door.

Living a life fully devoted to God and one of integrity doesn’t only change the direction of your life. It can change the direction of the people around you and, in Jehoshaphat’s case, the direction of nations.
